Volunteer opportunities and links to Sign-up Genius for upcoming Oakton Band events will be posted in here. Please check back often as this page will be updated as new opportunities become available.
There are many, many ways to get involved with the Band program so please don’t be shy! Your help is VERY MUCH NEEDED and welcomed. To get involved, simply respond to emails asking for help or check this page and tell us how you’d like to help or what talents you’d like to share.
Drumline Yard Sale 2017: Volunteers Needed to Co-Lead
Mark your calendars! The Drumline Yard Sale will be Saturday, June 10. Set aside any items you want to contribute to the sale (clothes, small appliances, decorative items, books, toys, etc.). We will schedule pick-ups closer to the event. We are looking for a family to co-lead the event this year and take it over next year. If interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Officers and Committee Chairs for 2017-2018
We need you. There are many tasks that the Band Boosters must do each year and now is the time to start attending the one-hour monthly meetings and decide hoy you can help the band.
We will be looking for officers and committee chairpersons for next year. We especially need parents of underclassmen. Many of our very active boosters have seniors and will be leaving at the end of the year.
For a list of job descriptions for the officers and committee chairs, see BBOHS Officer and Chair Job Descriptions.
Remember, it takes all of us to support the wonderful band program that is a tradition at Oakton. And most of all, it is a lot of fun!
Oakton Classic 2017
The date of the 2017 Oakton Classic has been set to Saturday, October 21. Volunteers are needed for the following Chair positions: Ticket Sales, Volunteers and Concessions. Questions? Contact the Oakton Classic Chair, Mike Campfield at email@example.com.
Citrus Sales – Chair Needed
We still need one or two volunteers to chair the Citrus Sales. Citrus Sales begin in October and end in March. The Citrus Sales cannot be held unless someone steps up to chair the Citrus Sales. This fundraising generates around $3000.00 for the band. Questions? Please contact Barbara Glover at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Show your Spirit by Selling Spirit Wear!
Everybody loves having fun at Spirit Wear. You don't even have to sell. Come on out and see for yourself! Volunteers are needed to help sell Spirit Wear at home football games and other school and Band events. Questions? Contact Sharon Petrecca at email@example.com.
Pit Crew Volunteers
Please consider volunteering to be a pit crew assistant to help load, unload and transport pit equipment and props for the marching band performances at all home games and competitions. We do have props this year so we need more volunteers for pit crew than in years past. So please help out if you can. In addition, if you have a vehicle that can tow a small trailer and utility vehicle (John Deere Gator) and are willing to do so for competitions, we would love to hear from you. Contact Ray Holdener at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks.
Nurse or Other Licensed Medical Professionals Needed
If you are a Nurse, MD, EMT, Paramedic, or other Licensed Medication Professional – we NEED you to help at Orkney, competitions and the Spring Trip. Any qualified Band parents, from all OHS Bands and Guard, are needed to help.
Please contact Kristen Jorgenson at email@example.com for more information or to volunteer.
Photography & Media Needed for Marching Band
Would you like to immortalize your marcher's band experience? Would you like to document his or her band and color guard journey through the school year? Can you shoot video? Can you take still photos? Would you like to get into the football games for free? Then we need you!
The Photography & Media group takes videos and still photos of the band throughout the year. By now you've seen the photos from Orkney, and we'll have more photos and videos of the games, competitions, and concerts as the year progresses.
Note that we have a real need for people to do video, especially from the parents of Freshmen. Dr. V uses the videos for training, so by shooting video you are directly helping the band to improve! Will OHS be an Honor Band for the 22nd year? Will you help make this happen?
Please contact Graham Glover, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
