Join us at Panera to raise funds for the Oakton High School Band Boosters. Come to Panera at Fairfax Towne Center (12120 Fairfax Towne Center, Fairfax, VA 22033) on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 between 4:00pm and 8:00pm.

Don’t forget to bring this flier or show it on your smartphone to make sure that 20% of the proceeds will be donated to the Band Boosters of Oakton High School.

The Band Booster of Oakton High School (BBOHS) is a 501(3)c organization formed to support the music program at Oakton High School. We support the Cougar Marching Band, Color Guard, Drumline and all the Concert Bands and Jazz Bands. Each year the costs of the programs are paid by parents, corporate sponsors and most importantly through fundraising. Email fundraising@oaktonbands.org for questions or with your fundraising ideas.

Be a Corporate Sponsor!

Many people believe that Fairfax County Public Schools pays for the Oakton Band Program. Unfortunately this is not the case. Fairfax County provides funds for music education (classes), but not for the bands, uniforms, competitions, transportation, equipment or maintenance. The Band Boosters of Oakton High School was created to raise the nearly $100,000 it takes to offer a full music program at Oakton.

Corporate sponsorship contributions allow us to provide financial aid to families, purchase and repair musical instruments, buy uniforms and travel to competitions. Our Oakton Classic Sponsors helps us make the annual Oakton Classic Marching Competition, now in its thirty first year, one of the area's finest marching band events.

Your generous contribution allows us to provide a world class music program, proven by our standing as an Virginia Honor Band for 21 years.

Band Council Car Wash

Car washes are held during the summer, with dates set up by the graduating class. In addition to raising much needed funds, the class that makes the most money on their car wash is allowed to sleep in one morning at Orkney band camp.

Proceeds from the car washes go toward Band Council funds and are used to make major purchases for the band program. The purchase is presented at the annual Band Awards Banquet in June each year. The dates of each car wash are below.

2017 Dates

July 22 - Oakton Elementary School (Underclassmen including rising freshman and leadership)
July 29 - Oakton Elementary School (Upperclassmen and leadership)
August 5 - Navy Elementary School (All students)
 
Time for the carwash for all dates are from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
 

Tag Day - Our Biggest Fundraiser of the Year!!

What is Tag Day?

All Band members raise money by collecting contributions door-to-door in neighborhoods in the Oakton High School boundary. For safety, student teams go door-to-door asking for tax-deductible donations and turn in money collected to the designated "Host Home" in their area.

Who Should Participate?

All Cougar Band members: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Jazz Lab, Marching Band, Drumline, and Color Guard.

Why Do We Need a Tag Day?

Thousands of dollars are needed each year to run a complete band program. Donations from family, friends, and neighbors are needed to buy large instruments, concert tuxedos, purchase music, and do instrument maintenance. In this way, Tag Day supports the entire band program.

Where Do We Meet?

Each neighborhood has a "Host Home" with Tag Day materials - your student will be assigned to a host home and the host will contact you with the address, directions, etc.

How Can Band Families Support Tag Day?

Ensure your band student participates! Help your neighborhood "Host Home" by providing food or drinks, driving students to collection areas, or tabulating donations. Encourage friends and families to donate (tell them they can donate online through this link: https://www.oaktonbands.org/donate !). We can't do it without your help!

Spirit Wear

The Spirit Wear committee is responsible for ordering and selling a variety of hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts, sweatpants and car decals, baseball caps, drawstring bags and other music-related items. A spirit wear table is set up at all band events and home football games.

Marching Band/Drumline/Colorguard Yard Sale

Calling all Band Families - the Drumline needs your help and support.

The Drumline students started holding a yard sale many years ago to raise money themselves to help replace their equipment. The first year, the students had great success and decided to make the yard sale an annual tradition.

This student-run fundraiser is organized by Drumline members with help from band families.

How can you help?

By donating your spring cleaning items!

Members of the Drumline will come to your house and pick up your items or you can deliver them to OHS early on the morning of the yard sale. Any items left at the end of the sale are donated to charity. You get a receipt for tax purposes. What items do you accept?

We accept anything you are willing to give, that is still in a fine condition.

What happens to the items you don't sell?

All the items we don't sell go to a charity. We are always happy to work with different charities, so if you have a charity you would like us to donate to please let us know.

Do we need to sort our items before hand?

No, we have many families in the band and tend to receive similar items, so we are happy to sort them for you.
Where is the yard sale held? The yard sale will be held at Oakton High School in the spring.

Do you offer pick up for my items?

If you can deliver the items to Oakton early on the morning of the sale, that would be great, but we can also arrange to pick up the items from your house in advance.

What is the last day for items to be given?

We will always take items the morning of the sale if you deliver them, but if you would like a pick up, the last day is the afternoon before the yard sale.
