Graduation: Thursday, June 15 – Congratulations to all of our 2017 graduates!

All freshmen, sophomore, and junior class members of Concert 2, Concert 1, and Symphonic Band will perform at Oakton High School’s graduation ceremony at the GMU Eagle Bank on Thursday, June 15.

Students should report to the band room at 11:00 a.m., dressed appropriately.

This is a mandatory school field trip for the Band, and students will ride buses round-trip. Students will return to OHS by approximately 4:30 pm.

Boys should wear slacks, shirt (light-colored), tie, and dress shoes with socks to match (no sneakers and/or white socks). Girls should wear a blouse with slacks or skirt, or a suitable dress, and dress shoes (no flip flops).

All students must adhere to Oakton dress code (excerpt): “Clothing should fit, be neat and clean, and conform to standards of safety, good taste, and decency. Clothing that exposes cleavage, private parts, the midriff, or undergarments, or that is otherwise sexually provocative, is prohibited. Examples of prohibited clothing include, but are not limited to: sagging or low-cut pants, low-cut necklines that show cleavage, tube tops, halter tops, backless blouses or blouses with only ties in the back, studded belts, chain belts, clothing constructed of see-through materials, and head coverings unless required for religious or medical purposes.”

The Band needs at least 3 chaperones to accompany the students on the buses to graduation. If you would like to chaperone, please sign up at:

Upcoming Concert Dates

Thursday, May 18: Senior Solos, Jazz A, Jazz B

Senior Solo and Jazz Bands A and B performances will be Thursday, May 18 at 7:00 pm in the OHS auditorium. Thursday, May 25: Symphonic, Concert 1, Concert 2

The final concert of the year will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 7:00 pm in the OHS auditorium.

On both concert days, the Oakton Band Hospitality Committee will be offering pizza and baked goods in the gym lobby from 5:30-7:00 pm. Pizza will be for sale for $2/slice, water for $1/bottle, and baked goods by donation. If you wish to order a whole pizza, please email president@oaktonbands.org . Pizzas are $10/cheese, $12/pepperoni.
